There was commotion on Sunday at the United Methodist Church, Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos as members of the church chased away their pasto for allegedly impregnating his housemaid. It was learnt that the pastor, Barkuma Andrew, was stopped from leading the church seven months ago when the housemaid, who was also a member of the church, Grace, had complications after aborting the pregnancy. Andrew had lived with his wife, children, wife’s cousin, Favour, and Grace in a three-bedroomed flat on the church premises before the incident. It was gathered that the members had petitioned the Central Conference of the church in Taraba State to investigate the alleged accusation. Then sought the service of another pastor three weeks ago when the district reportedly failed to probe Andrew. Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) The Federal Government will on Tuesday (tomorrow)arraign a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), before a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly being in possession of firearms without license, The PUNCHlearnt on Sunday. The Department of State Security Service had, in a statement by one of its officials, Tony Opuiyo, on August 24, 2015, said that it had charged Dasuki with the alleged offence. The service did not disclose details of the charge but our correspondent learnt that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, had on Friday assigned the case to Justice Adeniyi Ademola, who is the court’s vacation judge. The DSS said it had charged Dasuki with possession of firearms without licence, an offence punishable under section 27(I)(a)(I) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, based on evidence so far obtained. Cross Rivers State Police command has arrested a suspected serial killer, Cyril Ojang Etim, 25, who had been wanted by the police over series of unexplained deaths in the state. He was picked by detectives attached to the state Criminal Investigation Department days after he alleg­edly beheaded one Ubong Asuquo who caught him steal­ing N4000 from his house at old Netim, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State. In the course of investigation, it was discovered that he was also responsible for the death of his ex-lover, Esther. He admitted to have killed her when he discovered that Esther, who was two months pregnant, had an abortion. 20-year-old Precious Ihemine, a JSS 2 student from Abia State, claims that her boyfriend impregnated and abandoned her. Ihemine is in police custody in Asaba, Delta State capital, where she is not finding it easy to free herself from police allegations of engaging in baby trafficking, following her arrest at the home of a polyethene packaging materials producer, John Mary Ihezue, who she claims is her employer. Arrested with her is another 20-year old, Blessing Okafor, who was also impregnated by her lover in a certain village in Enugu State. Both pregnant 20-year-olds were nabbed with six other ladies and two boys, when the police stormed the home-cum-business premises of Ihezue, who the police accused of running a baby factory.
