Nigerian users on Twitter have expressed surprise at the removal of the All Progressives Congress’ name from the official profile page of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Saraki’s verified Twitter biography previously read, in part, “Member of the APC.” But now the Senate President's bio simply read: “Senate President and Chairman of the 8th National Assembly. Committed to Transparency and Accountability.” According to Punch observation, one twitter user, Am Human No Labels, said, “Sir, are you no longer a member of the ruling party? Since the death of Miss Oluchi Anekwe, a third-year Accounting student at the University of Lagos, the university’s Medical Centre has remained the subject of widespread criticism and ridicule. Both the students of the university and members of the Anekwe family have insisted that Oluchi who was rushed to the Medical Centre in a taxi was alive at the time she arrived the hospital, and would have in fact survived had the medical officials attended to her promptly. The trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki for "false declaration of assets" commenced at the code of conduct tribunal in Abuja on Friday as the tribunal has ordered. Saraki refused to appear in person as ordered by the code of conduct tribunal but was represented by his lawyer, Mahmud Magaji. It appears he is hiding behind the directive by a federal high court asking the Tribunal and Saraki to appear for justification of the case on Monday. Consequently, the federal government prosecuting counsel, M.S. Hassan, has asked the court to with immediate effect issue a bench warrant for the arrest of Saraki. He told the Tribunal that Saraki, for failing to respect a competent court, should be arrested within the next two hours by the police authority in Abuja and brought to court immediately. A 42-year-old woman, Mrs Nimotu Raheem, was yesterday paraded by Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni for allegedly kidnapping three children at an Arabic School in Itire-Ikate, Surulere, Lagos. Former Akwa Ibom state governor Godswill Akpabio, who is currently in the UK to get treatment after surviving a car crash in Abuja on August 31st, suffered embarrassment at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a luxury five-star hotel in the Knightsbridge area of London after his credit card was declined while he attempted to check into the hotel. According to Sahara reporters who released the photos, Akpabio was heard making a call to a banker in Lagos state eiquiring why his card was declined. When SR contacted him, Akpabio said his card was declined because he had used the card to check out of the Four Seasons luxury hotel earlier in the day. An unidentified Nigerian Muslim man arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Haj (pilgrimage) next week got the shock of his life when he was told by immigration service that there was a big scissors inside his belly. According to Saudi daily 'Al Wata'n, the scissors was discovered when the Nigerian pilgrim walked through the metal detecting machine at the airport in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah. Two women alleged to be notorious robbers alleged to specialize in entering people's shops, boutiques, restaurants, etc pretending to buy something but end up robbing them in Uyo, have been arrested by the police. The suspects, Grace Ekpo and Mfon Daniel from Itiam Ikot Ebia, Uyo LGA, were arrested last Thursday after they stole from a boutique and were making their escape in a Keke.
